Smarty Pants!

I feel like a regular smarty pants today!  A few weeks ago I purchased a pair of capris from Nigaard and they are the most comphy pants ever!  They have a high elastic waist and are elastic "ish" all over the fabric.  Hard to describe, but I LOVE them, even if they were a bit more then I prefer to spend at one time on one article of clothing.  A few weeks go by and I'm still having trouble with all my other clothes, my pants do not want to stay up!  ARG!!!  What to do?!?  in the shower of all places I had an AH HA moment and thought "what if I put 4 inch elastic on the top of the waistband of my other shorts that keep heading south?"
Living in NorthWestern Ontario I have no access to 4 inch elastic so had to resort to ebay!  (gotta love that ebay!)  I ordered two different colours and in just over a week it arrived at my post box.  Yay!  So, I measured and cut and adhered and sewed and "tada!" I had elastic sewn onto my waistband.  Doesn't look gorgeous but it sure is comfortable!!!  My pants no longer travel on their own, no more panties poking out, no more crack issues!  Love, love, love!!  Now, I need to post a how too I bet!  Will get those pictures taken and a few instructions posted.  The way I finished the edges is neat enough I have to share.
I have been remaking t-shirts as well and will show you what I did there too!  Just wait for it...

June Viva la Verve Challenge entry

Made this card for a card challenge.  Viva la Verve has some of the nicest card examples and entries into the challenges.  This is from a sketch for the third week in June.  My plan is to link it to the challenge and enter BUT, I'm not sure if I will figure this all out.  Some of the blogging stuff is a bit of a challenge in and of it'self!  I made my own patterned paper background with Gina K stamps and then made the rose using the stampin up owl punch and a sissex 3d flower cut out.  added some glimmer from tattered angels and a perfect pearl centre.  (personally it looks like glue to me but what's done is done!)  the leaves are another stampin up punch that has petals and leaves.  I actually used a fiskars punch that I was starting to think I would never use.  It's this awkward oval thing.  First you have to cut out an oval using the template and line it up and punch out the design.  It doesn't work very well but in the end I got a good result for the curve.  I saw this really nice video on youtube on how to make the flower.  I modified mine a bit but it's still the basic idea. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcP_VJrvs0U this is the link if you want to see where I got my info on rose making from.  and here is the picture of the sketch.

I'm quite pleased with the outcome of this card and hope my card wins the draw!  Of course I wish everyone luck even if I love winning too!

Goal for the year!

How many of us have made goals for our new year?  Well I quit doing that years ago, but this year due to a card challenge I made a goal for this year.  Will I be able to keep it?  That's a good question.  My goal was to complete my almost completed quilts.  I need to free arm quilt two sandwiched quilts and sandwich and quilt at least three more tops that I have made previously.  So the card I made was a paper pieced quilt that I ran through an embossing folder.  I think the pattern is ohio star, but quite frankly I'm not exactly sure since my memory isn't that great for those types of things.  My other goals are to do more cards, more jewelry and more sewing for my family.  Otherwise it's just the usual, want to get into better shape, loose a couple inches and so on and so on.
Well that's it for now, will try to add a picture of something to make it interesting.

First Trade Show

New Blog, New business, new day!!!
I just finished my first trade show ever!  It was not as exciting as I had anticipated but everyone said it was slower than expected and that there were usually slow times when it's nice to have a partner to chat with.  I set things up and thought I had a very nice set up, but the next morning I reworked the set up a bit and liked the design better.  I am planning to post about my crafts and such on this blog.  Will include some photos later.
That's all for now!
